    Mason @ Flu Shot Clinic

I really enjoyed my time at the flu shot clinic. It was a very educational experience and I received a lot of practice giving IM injections. I really enjoyed meeting members within the community and learning more about community health.

    1613 Blazer Kitchen Volunteer Shifts

Today at Blazer Kitchen there was a large delivery brought to the facility. We spent the majority of the time preparing for the delivery and then unloading the truck. I was impressed by the amount of food both received and unloaded in such a quick time frame.

    1613 Blazer Kitchen Volunteer Shifts

This was my first experience at Blazer Kitchen. I volunteered on a Tuesday morning which is when a truck comes with a large delivery. I was impressed by the amount of food that we unloaded of a single truck. After unloading, we spent the rest of the time stocking and dating food along with other items. I was pleased to see that feminine hygiene products were available along with items like diapers and toilet paper. It was obvious that many of the other volunteers had previously volunteered at Blazer Kitchen as evidenced by the fluidity and ease of the work flow. I enjoyed my time there and would like to volunteer on a day when the kitchen is open to see how the other side of the organization operates.

    Mason @ Girls Rock Birmingham

I had the privilege to work alongside the wonderful ladies and campers of Girls Rock Birmingham. While I spent most of my time helping with food distribution, I was able to constantly interact with, observe and learn from campers and staff. I was very impressed by the way the organization cohesively worked together to manage any problems that arose and always kept their campers as first priority. It was so fun to see how excited all the girls were for their concert at the end of the week. I also enjoyed observing them working together to create something of their own. This experience shed light on to how much time, energy and effort is required for smooth functionality within an organization. There was an overall welcoming and empowering presence that surrounded the camp. I truly enjoyed working with this organization and I know it will continue to do wonderful things in the future.
