Volunteering Information

Volunteering is every Monday from 4 to 5 at Girls inc for the 2026 Fall semester. On BlazerPulse, this is listed as 3:45-5, as we typically arrive 15 minutes early to set up the lesson and prepare. You will get volunteer hours for the 1h15min on BlazerPulse.

Volunteering shifts for the 2026 Fall semester can be signed up for using the BlazerPulse link in our LinkTree on Instagram! The link can also be found in the pinned message on the HerScience 2026-2027 GroupMe.

Spots are limited. 

Cancellation Notice!

If you are unable to volunteer on a particular day, and need to cancel your sign-up, please notify Randi Cron at rpcron@uab.edu and cancel on BlazerPulse. This will give other people the opportunity to volunteer that day who are on a waitlist! Thank you :)

Trainings to be completed before volunteering

Below are the forms needed to be completed in order to volunteer with Her Science at Girls Inc. It is recommended to start filling out the forms and applications about a week before you plan to volunteer. Additionally, if it is not possible to sign up for an orientation slot, please do not let this stop you from volunteering. Please reach out to Randi Cron (rpcron@uab.edu) via email, or GroupMe, if you have any questions or concerns! 

UPDATED INSTRUCTIONS:

If you are interested in volunteering, please email (rpcron@uab.edu) that you are interested first, this way she can notify Ms. Jailyn to verify your Background Check prior to volunteering.

After emailing Randi Cron, the first thing you must do is look through the GirlsInc New Volunteer Power Point. This PowerPoint will give you a basic overview of the missions and opportunities that GirlsInc has for volunteers. Once you have completed this viewing, you can begin filling out the forms for this organization. After you have completed filling out forms, please make sure to email these forms to Ms. Jailyn (jcraig@girlsinccentral-al.org), the Volunteer & Engagement Coordinator at GirlsInc. Also, please make sure to CC Randi Cron (rpcron@uab.edu), the Community Outreach and Volunteering Director of HerScience, in the email!

1. You can either email this to Ms. Jailyn (jcraig@girlsinccentral-al.org) and CC Randi Cron (rpcron@uab.edu) OR Print and fill out–this will be submitted at the front desk of the GirlsInc location and you can bring this form on your first day of volunteering.

Transport

 It takes approximately 12 minutes to get to Girls Inc. from campus. Transport is individual, but if you need a ride feel free to text in the “Off-Campus Volunteering Logistics” chat in the HerScience GroupMe, and there is usually always someone able to give one.
